Forest v Everton - Match Thread

Well, that was a bit dissapointing. No Shelvey no chance? It does seem that he has been integral to us being more solid, in light of Kouyate and Yates being missing.

Last Game Overview: It was alright until about 70 minutes.

The Good: Shelvey.

The Bad: Freuler, Williams and Worrall. Probably a few others.

The Ugly: The stadium atmosphere. The fact that you could hear Forest over 60k says it all.

Special Mention: Cooper. He doesn't get it wrong often, but the subs weren't right.

Overall Record: Currently we stand at W47 D27 L55

Injuries / Signings: Boly, Henderson, Kouyate and McKenna are all out for this one.

Awoniyi, Niakhate and Yates could all figure. I know I say that every week.

Your Opposition Story:

I know a lot of Everton fans, who always seem a nice enough bunch compared to the Liverpool lads. I don't want them to necessarily go down, but it would be good for the club for them to sell a lot of players off and start again.

Form:

Forest Home Form - W3 D3 L GF8 GA4
Everton Away Form - W0 D2 L4 GF1 GA9

Forest are 1.5 PPG over the last ten games. Everton are 0.7. This statistic proved to be utterly useless last time out.

Team:

Navas
Aurier Felipe Worrall Lodi
Freuler Danilo Shelvey
Scarpa
MGW Johnson

Prediction:

Our home form continues if Aurier is fit, Lodi recovers, Danilo in for Colback and Wood doesn't start. Oh....and Shelvey can last the 90 (or Yates fills in when he goes off).

2-1 to Forest - Wood with the winner...to further annoy the Everton fans.

They have Asenal tomorrow, so hopefully a few injuries and tired legs.

COYRs!!!

How has Dennis not been booked there as well?

I think we were actually quite fortunate to end up with a point, we need to improve dramatically to stay up. Again Our home form is going to be crucial.

Just about deserved it but we have big issues don’t we? Other teams would have taken us apart. Thankfully Johnno was on fire today. MGW was ok at times but gave it away too much. Worrall and Felipe both very good at back. But we are not clever enough with the ball in midfield. Can’t just expect Johnson to do it all

Spurs and Newcastle next. Really needed the 3 points today

Decent enough. Forest look like they’re going to make this nervy for the rest of the season, not that I was expecting this to be easy. Defenders need to stay switched on. Good performance Brennan

Where is lingard? Wasn’t he on the bench? Dennis is woeful, almost pointless him playing really.

Decent point considering but can’t keep defending the way we do. We consistently look like we have 10 men! We will get minimal (if any points away from home) so need to rely on horn form.

I think we will struggle to stay up but it will be close. Yates back is a massive massive bonus. We looked so much better with him in there. Hopefully that can be the difference.

Dennis wasn’t great but not sure it was the game for Lingard either. He’s basically back up for MGW and showed he can’t play on wing in this formation. Yates was biggest positive. I just worry about our away form and the teams we have to play at home. A win today would have given some real breathing space. Just got to hope teams like Palace and Leicester get dragged back into the relegation fight with us

We have Newcastle, Wolves, Brighton, Man U, Arsenal and Southampton to come at home, i struggle to see us getting double figures points wise from that set of fixtures. If we don’t get as many points away from home as we do at home, i doubt we’ll stay up, but agree it will be very nervy and close, right to the last day at Palace, who may well be in the mix.

Today felt like a missed opportunity. First half we were poor, second half we were the better team. We looked better after SC made his substitutions.
The defence was panicking in the first half. Felipe was really good after the break. After our subs came on we had more players going forward and looked like scoring more.
Good to see Yates back on the pitch. He looked like he had lost weight, but made a big difference. I think we need to play 4-2-3-1. Yates and Shelvey in front of th back 4; Johnson, MGW, Ayew/Lingard/Scarpa/Dennis behind striker Awoniyi/Surridge/Dennis/Wood.

Don’t like to single out players for criticism but Wood was poor today. Didn’t move much, didn’t win many headers.

Ref was poor. We had better in Championship.

If Johnson or MGW are out for more than an odd game or two we will be in trouble

Spurs play AC Milan on Wednesday night. Let’s hope it goes into ET.

I thought Wood was better, but still poor.

I also thought their 2nd goal shouldn’t have happened. It was a clear pull on MGWs shirt and should have gone the other way. The ref was hopeless.

Looking at the form table there is only Wolves and possibly West Ham who look on the up. The rest around us are doing just as poorly as we have over the last six.

With Yates back and Awoniyi / Niakhate to follow we’ll
start climbing that table soon enough.
