Everton?

Why does Everton FC avoid criticism for their continual failures?

They remain one of England's biggest and famous clubs but, unlike Spurs who the media, fans and pundits take (justifiably) great delight in laughing at, Everton just don't get the same level of stick.

They've flirted with relegation for what seems like an age, play, on the whole, pretty dire football, last won a trophy in 1995 (Spurs was 2008), were connected to a dodgy Russian Oligarch and spent a ton load of cash on sub standard players. But seem to get away with it - why?

This is fairly easy to explain I think.

It is more to do with how Tottenham supporters behave, which is in stark contrast to how Everton fans do.

Spurs fans are arrogant, demeaning and belittling. Not to mention delusional.

Take this season for example, a relatively easy start and their fans think they're winning the league. They won't finish in the top 6! They really have been poor in so many games i've seen, only to be bailed out by pure luck or terrible defending. We battered them in the first game, yet the referee handed them the match. Not to mention, we weren't even fit.

Everton fans are very humble, polite and easy to get along with as fellow football fans.

Funnily enough if you ever go to Liverpool, you will be amazed at how nice Everton supporters are compared to fans of Liverpool Football Club.

I would say Liverpool FC fans are possibly the nastiest bunch of the lot; aggressive, cult-like and almost desperate to get violent just because you don't support their team or come from their city. Awful people. They stink of bitterness.

Everton do often a kiss and a cuddle my the nations media. Skysports and BBC seem to have a soft spot for them. They've acheived sod all in the 33 years ive been alive and old enough to watch football. Spurs aint much better but atleast they flirt with success and have gone close, the only thing everton have come close to is relegation.

The simple reason Everton get so much leeway is they have never had the sustained success of a big club. Two league wins on the trot in the 80’s and that’s it. Last I heard of them they were winning the FA cup under Joe Royle 28 years ago.

They got a reputation for playing football the way it should be played back in the 80’s under Howard Kendall and they were really classy, some of the best I’ve seen.

Ancient history though and there are no expectations they will build a team to challenge in the foreseeable future.

Everton have a long history, and have won leagues and cups. So shouldn't be belittled. The modern era with the financially doped has all but killed of clubs like Everton from being competitive.

I would have Everton's long history all day long over City or Chelsea's buying their history.

Whilst I'm loathe to agree with anything Sandy says as he changes his mind as often as i change my socks - for once i think he's correct.

Everton have a history (like Villa, Wolves, Newcastle) which is great and stretches back to the 2 world wars. This history was built on attacking football, loyal support and, no doubt, a committed Boardroom - rather than unearned money from a foreign investor with no allegiances to the club. Abramovich for example, was such a big Chelsea fan that he only bought them after Spurs rejected his offer.

This history is what makes it even worse is how much Everton have fallen as they are now among the teams scrabbling along at the bottom.

Yep, City had never won a game until 2008

Well you'd only won 2 of your current 9 titles.
Coincidence?

So that’s twice as many as Spurs have won in their history.

How many European trophies did you win before the Moores Family bankrolled you?

Incorrect. Spurs had won two, the same as City. Spurs had also won considerably more FA Cups, European Trophies, League Cups before City became financially doped. City have also brought seven titles since then.

Really isn’t a safe environment at Anfield at all, just as I said.

Luis Diaz’s Mum and Dad kidnapped outside the stadium, petrol station forecourt I believe, hope they’re ok.

Anfield isn’t safe.
